Canon City is a small, historical town with a population of 25,000.  The Royal Gorge is it's best-known attraction and it brings more than half a million visitors to this area each year.  Rafting is a perfect way to see the beautiful Arkansas River and the gorgeous valley.  Canon City is a remote part of nature that is great for hikers, mountain bikers and sightseers.  The residents enjoy a protected, natural setting that buffers the town from the winter winds and five blocks of Main Street have been named to the National Register of Historic Places.  Canon City also has state and federal correctional facilities which has been a foundation of the areas economic stability.
